Click on the wattle for its details

Australian Folklore is a journal of folklore studies, issued annually and prepared for the Australian Folklore Association Inc., being edited and published at the University of New England. It has the editorial policy of endeavouring to publish the work of as wide as possible a range of scholars, collectors and experts in both particular and general aspects of the vast field of Australian folkloric studies. Further, it welcomes for consideration both theoretical and field studies by scholars from around the world.

The 1995 issue (No. 10) contains a record number of Australian contributions, which is particularly appropriate in a volume presented to Bill Wannan, Australia's greatest folklorist in commemoration of his eightieth birthday

This is a bumper issue of some 268 pages comprising: 8 articles/essays concerning Bill Wannan; 4 similar papers related to (the late) Russel Ward; 20 articles on diverse topices; 3 reports of conferences etc.; Letter to the editor; Poetry by Julia Sinclair; Questionnaire on wart cures by G. Hatfield of Folklore Society (London); various small notes and comments; 13 book reviews; and a further 13 brief notices or mini-reviews. Scattered throughout are assorted maps, illustrations, diagrams, musical notations and photographs. A comprehensive list of contributors falls on the last few pages.
