Civil War. Scarborough is under siege as the Roundheads bombard the beleagured castle garrison with the largest cannon in the kingdom. Exhausted? Don't worry, you've still 300 years to catch your breath. Ahead of you lies the coming of rail, the Victorian Promenade and the shocking practice of sea bathing!! Scarborough was the UK's first seaside resort. But watch out, there's the awesome destruction of the German naval bombardment of 1914 before you can savour all the traditional magic of the Great British seaside. Inspired by the concept, leading playwright and local figure Alan Ayckbourn contributed to the colourful scripts that imbue the storytelling with conviction and character, bringing you closer to history than you'd ever imagined.
