English Heritage Antiques, Inc.

English Heritage Antiques, Inc., offers tasteful, refined English period furniture and appropriate accessories to the collector and designer. The large gallery, housed in a two-story brick building in the heart of the charming village of New Canaan, CT, displays carefully selected 18th and 19th century furniture, complemented by an extensive collection of English paintings, prints, and porcelain. Each item is selected by the owner, Cecily Collins Megrue, with an unerring eye for design quality, authenticity, and timeless elegance.

The shop conveys an atmosphere of beauty and comfort. Articles come directly from England and from the vast sources developed here by Mrs. Megrue, including fine New England private homes. Each piece is presented in a room setting, making it easier to visualize in your home. We have photographs of nearly everything in inventory and will gladly provide them to designers and customers. English Heritage is a member of the Art & Antique Dealers League of America, Inc., and guarantees each article to be as represented.

Cecily Megrue brings a strong art history background to English Heritage. She purchased the on-going company in 1983, and has expanded the shop to twice its original size. The shop is known for a consistent look, always refined, never heavy or ponderous. You will not find plain brown furniture here, as each piece has that something extra going for it. Dining tables and sets of chairs are a specialty, as are satinwood pieces and fine secretaries. A truly exceptional collection of English porcelain graces the cabinets and tables.

We welcome your inquiries and look forward to your visit.
