To Shoot, or Not To Shoot, .....

That is the question.

One of the most important skills to learn as a soldier is being able to recognize enemy from friendly forces. In the chaos of battle, a few moments hesitation can mean death. The ability to identify targets correctly is absolutely essential.

The reason for developing this sub-web-site of the 1st Squadron 158th Cavalry is to educate about and demonstrate the skills necessary on a modern battlefield. Granted, there are more armored vehicles than those depicted, and granted, there are other weapons systems to be alert for and be able to identify, but this is a start.

Here is how it works:

The whole trick to the lesson is to click on either:

BACK......................OR ......................NEXT

NEXT obviously takes you to the next image and BACK takes to the previous image.

There is no scoring, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . YET.

If we can get some FEEDBACK. to this concept, then we can tailor it to make it better. There is a nice program available through official military channels which has many more capabilities than this, including thermal imaging, but of course we have the close-up photo images which are often better than the silhouettes, the fuzzy black and whites or the line drawings. Feel free to provide FEEDBACK.. If you want this to improve we need FEEDBACK.. If you have some ideas about ways to make it cool, we need FEEDBACK..

Example: One guy says, "Why not set up a Java Applet where you can fire a Tow missile at the target ?".

Very cool idea, but it's not that easy... This site alone took several days to build so if we can find a sponsor then maybe we could do that... However, to get sponsors we need FEEDBACK.

And by the way,.....If you toasted that target,........

.....You just splashed a M-1 Tank.
