Eiffel Tower become such a symbolic figure of Paris that it is quite impossible to look at one without thinking of the other. It is undoubtedly the best known monument around the world, in any case the most photographed and it remains the limelight of any visit to Paris.

Designed by engineer Gustave Eiffel, its construction started on 23 January 1887 and assembling the 15,000 metal parts ended on March 1899. It has been the symbol of the Universal Exhibition and often a subject of criticism, Eiffel Tower has been gradually incorporated in the Parisian landscape so much that it is now inseparable.

Since 1986 a new lighting system emphasizes this fantastic ironwork pattern and strenghtens the reputation of Paris as City of Light.
