[DECOR] [DECOR] [ITHACA!]
ITHACA
A Tribute to Constantine P. Cavafy
 (1863 - 1933)
"...And if you find her poor, Ithaca won't have fooled you. Wise as you will have become, so full of experience, you will have understood by then what these Ithacas mean."
[Cavafy Image]  Constantine Cavafy (Konstantinos Kavafis), one of the most distinguished Greek poets, was born on April 29, 1863 and died on the same date in 1933 in Alexandria (Egypt).

Through the pages of this WWW tribute, you will find:
1) a collection of many of Cavafy's poems,
2) an extensive biography (in English and in Greek),
3) a special tribute to the "Cavafy" movie (1996),
4) a Gallery with a few photos, paintings and manuscripts,
5) passages from magazine articles (Greek)
6) a short list of some important publications (Greek) of Cavafy's works (and about Cavafy's works),
7) a list of references and awards this site has received

You'll find an English (containing translations of the original poems) and a Greek section although there is not an absolute correlation between the two collections of poems.
If you want to read the poems in Greek but you have trouble with Greek fonts, then you MUST go HERE. You'll find Greek fonts plus solutions to any problems you might have with them.

This site is constantly under construction. I'll do my best to complete this tribute to the great poet as soon as possible.

 Thank you for your patience!
