Key to icons:

= Company or Organisation includes technology suppliers,industry organisations, or terms which describe companies or organisations. The icon used is a a picture of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) building.

= Fact or commonly used financial term which is not technology related. Useful general information is also included. Examples include international characters and calenders, abbreviations and acronyms.

= Financial Product from mainstream banking products such as retail accounts to sophisticated derivative products. The icon used is a package because derivative products are often packages of simpler financial products which are being combined in innovative ways.

= Financial Engineering term used in the process of constructing financial products or in discussions about those products.The icon used is a picture of the space shuttle because the people who engineer financial derivative products are often called rocket scientists because of their use of complex financial modelling techniques.

= Market or Country includes stock exchanges, country information, political groupings and bodies.The icon used is a section of the globe and represents the hundreds of countries and markets which this encyclopaedia covers.

= Standard term which is accepted by a major standards setting body such as the ISO (International Standards Organisation). Many of the terms also include the specification of the length and type of the data allowed. For example:

= Technology Term used by technology specialists in the financial industry which does not explicitly relate to financial engineering activities.
