UC Davis Nuclear Physics Group

Welcome to the home page for the nuclear physics group at UC Davis! We consist of four faculty and staff members and from seven to ten students, and are located on the fifth floor of the Physics/Geology building (with a senic view of I-80 as well as the rest of campus) on the Davis campus of the University of California.

Nuclear physics is the study of the nucleus and the forces represented inside it. Our current research areas range from the scattering of neutrons off atoms and the equation of state for nuclear matter up to the attempt to create the quark-gluon plasma, a new state of matter where the quarks inside existing particles are freed from their usual trapped states inside nucleons (represented by the picture at right).

Another useful thing for people setting up their own home pages is an index of all the GIFs we have available locally...
